My experience as a textile artist has given me an understanding of how pattern and design must work together for a product to stand out. And that’s exactly what I want to help my clients do.
About
My journey to surface pattern designer and modern quilter began before I was in grade school.
My mother was an artist and taught me about the power of color by letting me mix her oil paints and watch as she transformed her work. As I grew older, she took me to the local fabric store where I fell in love with everything made of cloth. She bought me a sewing machine and encouraged me to design and make my own clothes.
By the time I went to college I was sewing everything from coats to quilts.
I left my creative work behind to complete a PhD in Political Science and teach college students Environmental Studies.
In 2015, I decided to leave that career and build a new one centered around my old love of color, texture, cloth, and patterns.
Second Bloom Studio is located in central North Carolina surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens, beehives, and wooded running trails.
I see patterns everywhere. Whether running in the mountains of North Carolina, hiking in the highlands of Scotland, or simply tending the beehives in my garden.
I believe in living a life of environmental stewardship and creating art that emphasizes the whimsy, and awe-inspiring beauty of nature in its many forms.
